Matt Day
Matt Day became a Christian at the age of 6. He was audibly called by God to preach at age 11 with these words, “I want you to preach.” He surrendered to that call at age 13. His life verse is 1 Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes desire the sincere milk of the Word so that you may grow thereby, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” Growing up in Mobile, Alabama and attending Cottage Hill Baptist Church during his formative years, Matt had the privilege of hearing great men and women of the faith preach from the pulpit of that church. Leonard Ravenhill, Charles Stanely, Adrian Rogers, Peter Lord, Bertha Smith, Manley Beasley, and many more.
Matt received a Master’s of Divinity degree while attending Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. While there, he also served as the baseball chaplain for the Texas Christian University baseball team. After seminary, Matt pastored a traditional church in Southwest Florida for almost 14 years, seeing it grow from 70 people to around 1,500 without ever owning a building and moving locations 15 times. People would come from over two hours away in several directions to hear the Word being preached. During that time, he also served as Spring Training Chaplain for the Baltimore Orioles.
In 2018, God released him from pastoring a traditional church and brought him into a new understanding of the New Testament Church. After traveling to the land of the New Testament and walking in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul, he founded Box Church, a global movement of churches that uses technology to return the Church back to the New Testament. Matt has traveled to 22 countries around the world and has friends in many of those places.
Matt is also the author of Celebrating Jesus Through The Feasts of Israel and Velcro God. He and his wife, Amy have been married since 1999 and have four children: Mary Katelyn, Holden, Caroline and Eli.
