The Blythe Daniel Agency Team
Passionate About Authors. Invested in Your Story.
We are a boutique literary and marketing agency built on relationships—with publishers, with media, and most of all, with the authors we get to walk alongside.
Our Mission
Our mission is to encourage, equip, and enlighten writers in the publishing process—from concept to creation—and to help them share their book with audiences ready to receive their message.
We do this through:
Whether you need literary representation, a publicity or marketing campaign, or a coach to help you figure out where to start, we are here for you.
The Blythe Daniel Agency has spent more than 30 years building relationships in publishing and media. We represent authors pursuing traditional publishing, and we market books for traditionally published, self-published and hybrid-published authors.
“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me;
your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.
Do not forsake the work of your hands.”
Psalm 138:8 (ESV)
Blythe Daniel
Literary Agent, Author and Marketer
Blythe is a literary agent, author, and marketer who is passionate about building relationships with people in both publishing and the media. She has 30 years of experience marketing books through traditional media (radio, television, print) and has expanded that reach to other outlets like podcasts, websites, blogs, and ongoing relationships with clients to bring promotional opportunities to authors.
She has spent the last 21 years as a literary agent, representing adult non-fiction and select fiction, along with some children’s fiction and non-fiction titles. Blythe began her career as the publicity director and marketing director at Thomas Nelson Publishers (now HarperCollins Christian Publishing), where she traveled with authors and led media campaigns and read book proposals. She later worked with Wild at Heart as a product developer and before founding her agency to help authors find their place in publishing. The BDA agency represents new and bestselling authors primarily in the Christian market with some general market inspirational books.
Blythe and her mother, Dr. Helen McIntosh, have co-authored Mended: Restoring the Hearts of Mothers and Daughters (Harvest House) and I Love You Mom: Cherished Word Gifts from My Heart to Yours (Tyndale). She and her daughter Calyn co-wrote Let’s Be Friends: A Tween Devotional on Finding and Keeping Strong Friendships (Harvest House). She also co-authored I Love You, Dad! Words to Honor and Humor You (End Game Press) with her mother and son William.
A graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio, Television & Film and a minor in Journalism, Blythe lives in Colorado with her husband and three young adult children: Maris and twins Calyn and William. She continues to write and hopes to inspire others in their writing dreams—and she’ll tell you she learned to love coffee at age 12.
Stephanie Alton
Literary Agent and Marketer
Stephanie is a literary agent, marketer, and manager of The Book Pod—BDA’s network of bloggers, influencers, and podcasters who feature books for review and interview.
She became an agent through what she describes as “a series of snarky prayers,” being a pro at learning as you go, having a keen ability to get to the heart of people’s stories, and with an incredible mentor by her side. For more than a decade, one of her favorite areas of work has been helping transform general ideas into stellar proposals and secured book deals. Stephanie represents adult non-fiction and fiction, and looks for authors who are teachable, market-aware, and committed to long-term writing goals.
As a marketer and publicist, Stephanie helps authors identify the right kind of campaign for their project and budget—building custom strategies based on market trends, the author’s talking points, and the outlets most likely to reach their readers. She has worked on everything from national chart-topping, award-winning bestsellers to missional mindset works, hybrid books, a few self-published projects.
At writers’ conferences across the country, Stephanie teaches on marketing strategy and takes pitch appointments, combining more than a decade of acquisition and marketing experience into workshops that are practical, personable, and packed with insight.
Stephanie lives on the Texas Gulf Coast with her husband and two teens. She loves sunset cruising the bayou to the bay, or spending time at the beach.
