Alyssa Burks
Alyssa Burks is a children’s author, educator, and advocate for inclusion from northeast Arkansas. A former middle school English teacher, Alyssa has dedicated her career to helping children feel seen, valued, and celebrated for who they are. Her passion for storytelling is rooted in her experiences working with children and raising her own family, where she witnessed firsthand the importance of creating spaces where every child belongs.
Alyssa is the founder of Delta Learning Microschool, a personalized educational program designed to support students with diverse learning needs and learning styles. She is passionate about fostering confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning in every child she serves.
Her debut picture book, Ethan and the Inside-Out Sandwich, is a heartfelt story about friendship, empathy, and embracing differences. Through engaging characters and meaningful storytelling, Alyssa hopes to encourage children to look beyond appearances, practice kindness, and discover the value in every person they meet.
Alyssa lives in Arkansas with her husband, Jared, and their two sons. When she’s not writing, she can often be found directing children’s theater productions, supporting educational initiatives in her community, and creating opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive.
