Twenty-one years of Midwest living brought Gwen to sunshiny Denver where she lives with her handsome hubs, quirky son, spunky daughter, and mini Goldendoodle of her dreams. After battling infertility for years and then more years, they decided enough was enough and followed God’s lead to domestic adoption. They knew none of the things you should know when starting the adoption journey. Ten remarkable and difficult years later, they’ve grown in their depth of understanding about adoption and the children they’re loving and leading. Their son thrives and struggles with special needs and they strive to guide him through his giftings and challenges. Their daughter is vibrant and a tender heart who already understands and works through just what a broken and beautiful reality she has been given through her adoption. For 12 years after graduating college, Gwen happily navigated the professional Marketing/PR world. In 2014, God called her to take an uncharacteristically giant leap of faith and quit her dreamy, non-profit job. Despite her lack of clear vision as to why, Gwen answered His tug. Turns out she needed a couple of years to retreat from professional work in order to focus on the needs of her family. God knew the challenges and joys ahead surrounding raising a child with special needs and gifted them with the ability to be present through the ebbs and the flows of that journey. He also granted her sacred space to write her way through the waves.
Gwen is working on her first book, Come to Think of It: An Artistic Glimpse into the Brains of a Child Living with Special Needs and the Mom Raising Him with Armonia Publishing.
